Welcome to Housing Partnerships, Inc.
HPI was founded in 1985 with a mission to provide our neighbors with safe, warm, and dry homes. We work to repair and replace substandard housing in Williamsburg, James City County, and York County. HPI is a locally-funded 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides vital home repair services for families experiencing low income or disability situations.
We are proud to serve our community and thank you for supporting our efforts through your donations, time and energy to assist those who need it most.
Federal and state fair housing laws protects people from discrimination when trying to rent an apartment, buy a house, obtain a mortgage, or purchase homeowner’s insurance. Fair housing requirements apply to all housing providers: property managers, owners, landlords, real estate agents, banks, savings institutions, credit unions, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, and appraisers.
The Fair Housing Board administers and enforces the Fair Housing Law, which protects people from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, elderliness, familial status, and disability.
The mission of the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity(FHEO) is to eliminate housing discrimination, promote economic opportunity, and achieve diverse, inclusive communities by leading the nation in the enforcement, administration, development, and public understanding of federal fair housing policies and laws.
FHEO protects people from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, and familial status. In addition, housing providers that receive HUD funding, have loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), as well as lenders insured by;FHA, may be subject to HUD program regulations intended to ensure equal access of LGBT persons.
